In partnership with the US Forest Service, MobilizeGreen is seeking 2 Interpretive Field Rangers to work at the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit in South Lake Tahoe, CA. The intern will be based out of the Forest Supervisor's Office in South Lake Tahoe and will travel daily to the interpretive site.  The Field Rangers will provide visitor information primarily at the Heavenly Mountain Resort at beautiful Lake Tahoe. Term:Full-time (40 hrs/week) for 10 weeks, starting June 24, 2019.


  • $560/week living stipend
  • Hands-on learning and training

Duties & Responsibilities:

Working together, Field Rangers will:

  • Assist with educational programs for children and adults;
  • Assist in the preparation of informational materials;
  • Answer visitor questions and phone calls, and provide information on local recreation opportunities and wilderness hikes;
  • Lead daily "Hike with a Ranger" programs at above 9000' elevation.
  • Receive cross-training and provide support for the Taylor Creek Visitor Center and in the Supervisor's Office

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing with the public in a variety of settings;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Ability to walk on trails in all types of weather conditions at high elevations, traverse uneven terrain, and otherwise maintain good physical condition;
  • Knowledge of western ecosystems, wildlife, plants and tree species;
  • Knowledge of hiking trails and recreation opportunities in the Lake Tahoe Basin;
  • Ability to work productively as part of a team to accomplish mutual goals and communicate effectively;
  • Interest in the mission of and services offered by the U.S. Forest Service.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

The job is physically arduous with work being done outdoors almost every day.
